Annoyances | The Frame

(So is it obvious yet how much I’m procrastinating?)

Things that are truly annoying me:

1. Rojo is currently being “updated.” It’s been that way all day. How am I supposed to keep up on my feeds if my feedreader is BROKEN? I feel lost! LOST!!! Note to self: export my feed list and put it in Bloglines or something for a backup. I sincerely hope that the recent aquisition of Rojo by SixApart doesn’t screw it over. I’ve tried nearly every feedreader out there, and Rojo is by far my favorite, and did I mention that I am LOST without it?

2. I’ve been watching Australian Idol, and one of the the contestants sang a song by an Australian band that I really liked, so I went to find out about getting some music by the band (the band is called george, Katie Noonan is the lead singer, who is apparently releasing a solo album in a couple of months). Except, you can’t get it here, apparently. At least, you can’t download it here, legally or otherwise. iTunes Australia has it. But guess what, you can’t buy from there unless you’re in Australia. It’s not on any of the torrent networks, the other on-demand services don’t have it (Yahoo!Music, Rhapsody, Napster). To make it more confusing, Yahoo!Music comes up with the album art for george’s first album Polyserena, but the tracks are all for albums of different bands called George. Aargh. To be completely fair, the albums are available as imports from Amazon.com, but I don’t really want to order an overpriced import album and wait for a week or more for it to show up. In a world that the internet has shrunk so much that I can hear george’s songs on MySpace with a single click, I fail to understand how record companies can keep up region-specific releasing, especially for downloads. It’s just stupid. The whole point of the internet is it doesn’t matter where you are, the same stuff can be available to everyone.

3. I had more…the school library not having the books I want…the fact that not every article and book is digitized and available online…some schoolwork that I consider particularly pedantic…my own procrastination (which, hello, writing this not really helping, but oh well)…roaches, OMG, I kid you not one just JUMPED ON ME (but I keep the Black Flag really handy, so he’s toast)…but the two above are the main things right now.

Yes, I can comment on the ROACHES! But they are not as big in Waco as they are in/near Houston. I interviewed for a job at the Manned Spacecraft Center in 1967, rented a car so I could scope out the area a bit to see where we might live if we moved there, and was driving near Seabrook, TX (just southeast of the MSC a few miles) looking for apartments. Had to stop three times to let the ROACHES cross the road. Like you do for deer in other parts of civilization.
