2/11/07 - added photos for contestants going to Hollywood
Oops! Started five minutes late…will catch up at the first commercial break.
Brian - Isn’t American Idol mock-worthy enough that we shouldn’t need mock American Idol contests? Okay, he’s scaring me. Please make him stop. Thank you.
Haley - Oh, yes. I love her tone. Not exciting enough, perhaps, but lovely, lovely quality. What does Simon mean when he calls something “cabaret”? I don’t know what that means, other than it means Simon wasn’t crazy about it. Does he just mean it sounds like a nightclub singer instead of a pop superstar? Because I think whatever he’s calling “cabaret” is what I like.
Jasmine - Nope. “You don’t know anything about me.” Well, they’ve heard you sing, and that’s really all they need to know about you. I love when people get on Simon because he’s British…because there’s so much difference between a good voice in Britain and a good voice in the US. Really.
Baylie - HORSIES! Heh…her parents are adamant that she doesn’t sing country, and then she sings a Faith Hill song. I like her a lot, but her voice isn’t totally there for me.
Hee. The door joke is made explicit. I dunno. I sort of liked it when it was just a running underlying joke.
William - For future reference. At least two notes on key would be helpful. Plus, bass voices, not really the best for soloists. Too bad he can’t sing…his range would be nice in the right situation. But yeah, it’d need to be on pitch. So never mind. Hee. Best exit ever.
Akron - Yes, definitely better than his cousin William. Not particularly exciting. But I like him. Nice recovery, in the face of Simon’s “I’m bored.” But of all the place-names his parents could’ve come up with? Akron? Really?
Sandie - Self-proclaimed bluesy singer. Yeah, we’ve already got like sixty of those who are actually GOOD. What the hell is this? And why is she acting like she’s using an ear monitor?
Ashlyn - See, like Ashlyn. Good bluesy singer. Huh, they’re talking about her facial expressions–I wasn’t really watching her, because I was typing, and I liked her voice. Hm. Interesting. Ha! They’re bringing her back in. Wow. That’s a first, I think. Yeah, I see what they’re saying, now…I still like her voice, though, and I’d give her a chance in Hollywood.
Jacob - Yeah, no. And shave.
Jimmy - Wow, loved that. Loved. Pretty much everything about it.
22 through. And extra auditions tomorrow? After most people I know have been complaining that the auditions are pretty dull this year. Great. But there were some very good ones tonight, and the hour-long shows have been a lot easier to take than the two-hour long ones. You know, they should just put the extra auditions on the website. They have “audition videos,” but they’re not actual auditions, they’re queue interviews. And they have TV clip videos. Dumb. What they should have, is all the audition footage AT LEAST of the contestants who got through but weren’t on TV. The website should extend the show, not repeat it or give us dumb “behind-the-scenes” stuff a lot of people probably don’t care about.

I think they should have shown ALL the contestants that went through, (on the extra auditions show), so they all could have some viewer familiarity and start somewhat even with the others that were televised.
YAY-next week-HOLLYWOOD! I did not like seeing my girl, Antonella saying, "I blew it," either!!
